    Tour a Coba y a Tulum

    Tour Tulum y Xel-Ha
    Xel Ha

Located in the southeast of Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo, east of Chichén Itzá and northwest of Tulum, Cobá is an archaeological site of the Mayan culture, whose population was about 50,000 inhabitants and an area of eighty square kilometers. It reached its peak as a metropolis between 300 and 600 AD, before the existence of Chichen Itza. It was built mostly in the middle of the Classic period of the Mayan civilization in the years 500 and 900 of our era.

There is an assumption that, from 900 or 1000 AD, Coba came into conflict with Chichén Itzá, of which the latter was successful.

One of the possible meanings of «Cobá», due to its proximity to the lagoons, is «chopped water» or «water with moss».

The main pyramid «Nohoch Mul», is the highest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula and the second in the Mayan world, with 42 m that is equivalent to a 10-story building.

In Coba you can enjoy incredible views from the top of its pyramid and attractions such as the so-called «Estela Uno», famous because it mentions the end of an era with the date 12/12/12, which was thought to mark the end of the world.

Let yourself be carried away by the crystalline and fresh waters of the underground rivers and discover majestic scenarios practicing snorkeling or on a floating donut.

In Xel-ha you can contemplate all the nature and culture of Mexico, enjoy attractive and fun water activities. It is characterized by the cove in which the underground water of the Yucatan Peninsula is connected to the Caribbean Sea, thus forming a space for the coexistence of countless marine and freshwater species. That is the reason why Xel-ha is known to be a natural aquarium.

Xel-ha is composed of two Mayan words that together mean «Water entry», which is a very clear reference of its geographical structure. In addition, the location of this fascinating place, for the Mayans, was part of the development of port activities.

Find the secrets that best keep Xel-ha and enjoy a sacred place where you can contemplate nature and relax.
